At age 30, Natasha Velaskez had built a life defined by quiet, steady devotion.

As a special education teacher in Texas, she spent her days empowering children with special needs, forming bonds so deep her former students still write her letters today. At home, she was a mother of two and a dedicated military spouse, keeping her family grounded through constant moves, temporary goodbyes, and overseas deployments.

Then, she felt called to serve in a whole new way.

Grateful for the opportunities this country gave her family as immigrants, Natasha made a courageous decision: she resigned from her teaching job, pushed through rigorous physical waivers, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, proving age is just a number. This past July, as a 30-year-old mother of two, she stood alongside recruits ten years her junior and proudly graduated from boot camp as a Marine PFC.

"I’m so proud of her," says her husband, "Hammer," a Marine Corps officer who met Natasha at church nearly ten years ago. "You will not find an officer's spouse willing to go eat dirt at boot camp as a 30-year-old woman with two kids. She is completely unselfish, willing to sacrifice for everyone."

For two dual-service Marines executing joint orders across the country, a brand-new travel trailer means everything. It gives their family a place of their own during every move, starting with a cross-country drive to California, complete with a stop back in Texas so Natasha can visit the students who continue to write her letters.

Today, Camping World is honored to celebrate Marine PFC, former special education teacher, and mother Natasha Velaskez as our October Hero of the Month.

Swipe through the carousel to read the powerful story behind her journey from the classroom to the Marine Corps.

Meet our final pre-event Co-Pilots. These three are just part of a litter of seven pups waiting for homes. They're German Shepherd/Boxer mixes (DNA tested) and absolute sweethearts: playful, outgoing, very energetic, and in love with people.

Imagine these big kids with their heads out the window on a long road trip, or napping in the laps of other passengers. They'll love long walks and family time, and they'll grow up to be big, amazing co-pilots.

They're looking to be the stars of lucky families' households, and you can meet them in person at The Ultimate RV Show, October 8-11, 12-4 PM in Temecula, CA.

Want to take one home? Pre-apply now so you arrive approved and ready to adopt on-site: www.hoperanchanimalsanctuary.org/adoption-application

Thanks for following along with our Co-Pilots of the Day and see you at the event!

Meet our third pre-event Co-Pilot, Winnie! This lady is a 3.5-year-old Supermutt mix (seriously!) and the ideal medium size at 40 lbs fully grown. She loves car rides, adventures, and walks. She's also a fan of fetch and splashing in water, and she lives life to the fullest every day. She's a total ray of sunshine.

Her dream day would be somewhere with a beach or a lake, and a family with a good arm to throw the ball.

She's looking to be the star of one lucky family's household, and you can meet her in person at The Ultimate RV Show, October 8-11, 12-4 PM in Temecula, CA.

Want to take her home? Pre-apply now so you arrive approved and ready to adopt on-site: www.hoperanchanimalsanctuary.org/adoption-application
