Hey, Ben here! I’ll apologize now for the long post.

It is hard to find the words when a childhood dream becomes reality. How are you even supposed to put that into words?! First of all, I have to thank Mandy for going along with this crazy idea and always supporting me. Rod's holds a special place in our lives. I knew Rod and Diane and played with toy tow trucks here at Rod’s Wrecker as kid. As that kid, I dreamed of one day working here. I never thought owning what I thought was the coolest place ever as a kid - was a possibility. However with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and divine timing - here we are! Not without a whole lot of help and guidance from some amazing people who have supported us! You all know who you are as you hopefully read this and just know I hope that one day I can repay you for all you done to help make this happen.

We are very fortunate to have Wayne, Marion, and the crew at Rod's around to help us continue to learn the ropes. It will also be an honor to work alongside local Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, First Responders, and Highway Departments to continue to do our part to keep the roads open and safe. Merrill is an amazing community with some amazing people and we look forward to being a part of that for a long time to come!

A little bit about us- we're proud to call Merrill home. I was born and raised in Merrill, it has always been my home. I have worked in and managed departments at automotive repair shops, I have been a Service Writer, hauled equipment, driven truck, managed people, and learned a countless number of valuable lessons on how to fix anything and everything from my Dad. Seeing a problem that seems impossible to solve is one of my favorite challenges, and that is something I’ve learned you run into frequently in the towing industry. There is always a new challenge and you always have to find a new solution. Mandy moved to Merrill when she was in high school and has called Merrill home ever since. The day we met my life changed forever. She always has and will continue to push me to be the best version of myself that I can be. She started on a career path out of necessity when we found out we were going to be parents the first time. Since then she has excelled in overcoming every challenge that has come her way. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to learn a task, understand how its done and why, and then improve it. It is something I have witnessed first hand several times and it will always impress me. She is also an amazing Mother to our daughters, June & Ruby and often found cheering them on at Merrill sports or staying involved in local community programs. Being part of this community means a lot to us, and we’re excited to continue serving it in this new way.

Mandy and I, along with our daughters June and Ruby, are looking forward to this next chapter and the challenges it brings. As well as putting our touch on Rod’s Towing & Service while honoring the legacy that Rod, Diane, Wayne, and Marion have built. We look forward to continuing to provide the same excellent service to Merrill and the surrounding communities that you have all come to expect.

Thank you all for your messages and support! It means more than I can say.

As the Memorial Day weekend starts, please remember why we have a 3 day weekend. Its not about camping, fishing, heading north to start the summer vibes or cooking out, it is to remind us of the sacrifice made by our fallen Service members of the U.S. Military. Please be safe in whatever you choose to do this weekend, from all of us at Rod's Towing & Service! 🎉

You may see horses being ridden alongside the road upon arrival!
When you see horses on or near the roadway, please remember: SLOW DOWN and give them plenty of room when you pass. Horses can become frightened or unpredictable with loud noises.
Wisconsin Law:
346.02(2): Every person riding an animal or driving any animal-drawn vehicle or propelling any pushcart upon a roadway is granted all the rights and is subject to all the duties which this chapter grants or applies to the operator of a vehicle, except those provisions of this chapter which by their very nature would have no application.
346.11: Passing or meeting frightened animal. Whenever a person riding, driving or leading an animal which is frightened gives a signal of distress to the operator of a motor vehicle by a raising of the hand or otherwise, the operator of the motor vehicle shall promptly stop the vehicle unless a movement forward is necessary to avoid an accident or injury and shall, upon request, stop all motive power until such animal is under control.
* Reduce your speed
* Pass wide and cautiously
* Stop if signaled by a rider
* Be patient and respectful
A few extra seconds on the road can prevent a serious accident. Thank you for keeping Wisconsin roads safe for both riders and drivers!
THANK YOU!!!!
