Middleburg Training Center Middleburg's Premier Thoroughbred Training Venue

Established in 1956 by late-Upperville philanthropist Paul Mellon, the Middleburg Training Center has been the training venue of choice for some of the most elite thoroughbreds and trainers in the world. Middleburg Training Center is a 149-acre horse training venue, complete with 11 barns, 220 stalls, 22 paddocks, and a 7/8-mile race track.

HAPPY FRIDAY! Did you know that a horse’s range of smell is more acute than that of humans but less sensitive than that of dogs.

One of the many reasons why horses have a better sense of smell than humans is because horses breathe in more air due to their nostrils allowing them to inhale molecules from both sides.
