Are you light checking your piston rings? If not, we can do it for you. Post COVID, it's a whole new world. Every part seems to be out to get you, rings included. Even if you don't have a calibrated mercury gage, you can use your cylinder to do this. The rings are supposed to be round - if you see light between the ring and bore, they aren't going to seal.

Many of you know that we have great respect for Porsche's PDK gearbox. If properly maintained and cooled, they are damn near bulletproof. It only makes sense that you'd want to put one into older models that might have had a Tiptronic, or where an automatic wasn't even an option. Now that's an option.

Even more interesting, you can even put a PDK into other non-Porsche applications, now what there are aftermarket PDK controllers and even PDK adapter kits.

Opens up a whole new world of options for transmission swaps. And we're all for it!

PDK Conversions and Repair Service in Tennessee. Speed Density Motorsports is proud to announce that we are now offering PDK conversions for all Porsche 911's pre 2010 models.

Can good data lead to bad conclusions? Data without context can be misleading, and sometimes the conclusions drawn from perfectly good data are completely wrong.

In this video, we'll examine two hot-button topics in the automotive world: Cylinder Bore Scoring and Using Thicker Viscosity Oil.

Using real-world failure data from Porsche engines, GM's L87 V8, Toyota's recent V6 recall, and SPEEDiagnostix's database of nearly 20,000 used oil analyses, we'll explore what the numbers actually mean—and what they don't.

🔹 What bore scoring is and why it occurs in certain Porsche, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes engines
🔹 Whether thicker oils actually reduce engine wear
🔹 Why some lubrication problems aren't oil problems at all

Most importantly, we'll answer a question that affects every enthusiast, technician, engineer, and oil nerd: Do the numbers tell the truth—or are we sometimes asking the wrong questions?

People always ask. Why use a hybrid ceramic ball bearing? Well, almost a decade after we released the IMS Retrofit, Porsche came out with their own kit. And guess what, it was a ceramic hybrid.

Don't let this be you. If you plan on tracking your Porsche, it's probably a good idea to pick up set of Carrillo or Pauter connecting rods, especially in newer engines using cracked cap technology. Last think you want is to have the pin end break off to ruin your track day.

Tis but a scratch. All kidding aside, this bad boy probably had a fueling issue or bad knock sensor. Not every M96 engine dies from cylinder bore scoring. Nothing a set of Nickies can't fix. Sent to us by Chicago's Midwest Performance Cars, one of our Certified Installers.

It's not only coffee that's on the menu as the workday starts. Our felines know the drill and have their preferred way to get their day started.

And don't worry, Bells gets her own treats elsewhere so they don't get stolen by Mr. Garbage Disposal, Chewy.

One last thing- please consider supporting your local animal shelters. There are lots of great pets waiting to be adopted at shelters. Big shout out to River Valley Animal Rescue for everything they do.
