A lot of people don’t realize how important the Ohio Department of Transportation is when it comes to recovery scenes and roadway safety.
When a major recovery is happening—whether it’s a rollover, heavy-duty accident, or complex winch-out—ODOT plays a critical role behind the scenes. From traffic control support to lane closures, signage, and keeping the flow of emergency response organized, their presence helps protect everyone on scene: drivers, operators, and first responders alike.

These teams are often overlooked because most people only see the trucks and wreckage. But without that layer of safety coordination, recovery work would be far more dangerous and unpredictable.
