Today we saw the mountains…smoke free and clear for the first time in 25 days. The fire is still burning but they’re getting it under control. This has been a very rough year for our community. A very warm dry winter, followed by these fires have many of the businesses struggling as they rely heavily on tourist seasons. All of our wonderful little towns are open and they need your business. Please come visit!!

ALERT: Hwy 550 Temporary Closure south of Ridgway due to congestion.

Ouray County Sheriff:

For firefighter safety, and congestion on the highway, we are putting a temporary closure in place on Hwy 550 between CR-23 (Idlewild / KOA) and CR-3A (Potter Ranch sign, south of Orvis and Basecamp) - Between the Town of Ridgway and City of Ouray.

Please utilize detours in place via CR-23
