I am 99 percent sure that the old center crossmember will be in the way of something, so I took it out and welded in box...

The way this is going to be set up, the only way to remove the steering rack is with the engine removed. I decide the smart thing to do would be to put a fresh one in and not take a chance on the old one leaking. $300 core charge on this puppy, so old one gets sent right back.
