Our ’68 Shelby is in bare metal now thanks to our friends at NWA Media Blasting, LLC and sitting on the rotisserie while we work through it section by section. No paint, no sealer, no filler hiding anything. Just steel, and bare steel tells the truth.
This is where you find the old repairs, rust that got covered instead of cut out, collision damage that was straightened “good enough,” and all the little shortcuts taken over the years. It all shows up eventually.
Honestly, this is one of our favorite parts of a build. Not because it looks pretty, but because this is where the real work starts. You can’t fix what you haven’t found.
Before this car gets anywhere close to primer, the metalwork has to be right. Proper panel fit, clean welds, straight metal, and a foundation that will last long after the paint is finished.
A true Shelby like this deserves more than a quick cosmetic fix.
The paint will come later. Right now, we’re still turning it on the rotisserie and dealing with what the metal shows us.
