Yesterday afternoon, we hosted a press conference announcing Operation Zero Traction, a zero-tolerance initiative that begins this evening and will continue throughout the weekend. This marks our third proactive enforcement operation of the year, and I could not be more proud of the work our law enforcement officers are doing to keep us safe.

Interstate 45 is one of the most deadly highways in Texas, and it runs through the heart of Harris, Montgomery, and Walker Counties. Because of that, you will see an increased law enforcement presence along IH-45 and surrounding roadways this weekend as we work to keep motoring traffic safe.

Beyond this specific operation, the larger message is clear: law enforcement agencies are working together across county lines like never before to keep our communities safe. I am especially proud of the cooperation and shared enforcement efforts we’ve built with our regional partners. Because of that teamwork and proactive approach, crime continues to trend downward here in Montgomery County.

As you travel this weekend, I ask that you please keep an eye out for officers working along our roadways. Slow down and move over when you see emergency lights. These simple actions help protect the men and women who are out there protecting you.

Public safety is strongest when agencies stand united. Together, we are making a difference.
