Improperly calibrated, a forward-facing system can be tracking a fire hydrant or a construction barrel 3 feet to the left rather than the car ahead.

That's the margin a dynamic calibration is supposed to close.

It only closes if the vehicle is in spec before the drive, the drive matches what the OEM wrote, and someone verifies the result afterward.
→ Is the calibration required at all, even with no DTC present?
→ Are voltage, fuel level, ride height, and tire pressure within spec?
→ Are related repairs and the alignment done first?
→ Does the drive meet the OEM's conditions, uninterrupted?
→ Do the post-scan and road test confirm the systems respond?
→ Does the file answer the adjuster's question?

Whether that money comes back in months or sits in the corner depends on decisions made before the purchase order.

→ Is the floor level within OEM tolerances?
→ Is the lighting right, with no reflective surfaces in the calibration zone?

Every windshield with a forward-facing camera has a calibration requirement behind it. Most glass shops know that. Fewer are actually capturing the revenue from it.

It's not that the work isn't getting done. It's that the requirement gets missed before the vehicle leaves, the documentation isn't what the adjuster expects, or the calibration never makes it onto the invoice. Any one of those gaps means you did the work and didn't get paid for it.
