members from academia, industry, and local governments. We reach from Northeast North Carolina, to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, to Richmond. If you are not already a member, I encourage you join us as we expand our unmanned systems-related activities in our region. We intend to leverage our existing capabilities to encourage unmanned systems industry growth along with promoting and growing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics robotics programs in our schools. I hope to see you soon!

Hampton Roads just took a major step toward shaping our energy future. The new Secure Energy Future Center has officially opened at the Virginia Tech Research Park in Newport News — and it’s designed to boost energy literacy, support workforce training, and help our region tackle rising power demand.

Local leaders highlighted how Hampton Roads already excels in defense, energy, aerospace, and logistics, and this center brings those strengths together. It includes classrooms, meeting spaces, and an interactive energy exhibit, plus room to grow into a larger research hub.

The center will support:
⚡ Training programs and certificates through Virginia Tech
🧪 Space for energy companies to test and develop new ideas
🤝 Collaboration between industry, government, and researchers
🌱 Solutions for the state’s rapidly increasing energy needs

With demand skyrocketing — especially from data centers — this hub positions Hampton Roads as a leader in innovation, education, and real‑world energy solutions. A big win for our region.
