I get phone calls all the time “I had it scanned at the parts store and they said xyz”
And we tell them the same thing, don’t listen to them.
So many times we’ve had cars brought to us after parts stores have sold them parts based off
Scans and it’s not fixed anything and money wasted on garbage parts store parts.
We get it you don’t want to pay diag. But this is what you’re paying for.
This q5 died on client a few times and set battery light on dash, takes it to parts store and another shop and they see voltage faults and tell her she needs an alternator.
She brings it to us expecting to replace the alternator.
I convince her to let me actually spend some time on it.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the alternator.
This is the j533 Gateway module, it sits under the back seat and someone spilled a drink and caused corrosion to set in. When this goes down you have communication issues between modules and all the symptoms she was feeling/seeing were caused by this.
We will have it back running great in no time, now the kiddo who spilled the drink we can’t help him from his mom 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
