This is a 1913 Wyoming (first edition) license plate — over 110 years old!

This rare paper thin Wyoming plate looked beyond saving when it arrived at our shop. Years of rust, damage, and extreme wear had almost erased its history. After countless hours of metal restoration, tig welding, grinding, paint, and precision lettering, it’s back to its original glory. Definitely a piece of American history worth saving.

MUST READ THIS ONE 👀

A customer came to us with a special request…

He wanted to keep his ORIGINAL family license plate while also creating a custom vanity plate for his 1955 Chevy to use at car shows all in one plate.

We carefully flattened the original numbers and letters, then completely re-stamped the plate into 55-Z11.

Talk about a one-of-a-kind transformation.

At Restore A Tag we’re always up for a challenge and this one pushed creativity to another level.

Now for the fun part.

Customer sent in this 1910s-1920s era Registered 142 Auto Livery tin plate for restoration. Auto Livery” was an old term used for a vehicle-for-hire service. basically an early taxi, chauffeur, or rental car business before modern cab systems became standardized. The number 142 was probably a fleet, permit, or registration number assigned by a city, county, or state licensing authority I would guess? Love the new Mack Xcaliber brushes so far. Anyone have more info/history on this tin plate.

Super Rare: 1919 North Dakota 526 motorcycle license plate. After 16 years of some crazy restorations, I think we hit our match. Just starting the metal work on this paper thin/brittle plate, and we have a long way to go. We are staying positive but just don’t know. What do you think? Is it worth saving or not? Thoughts?

1970/71 Florida restoration with the reflective white lettering and border. Customer called and said fuel cell in the trunk sparked from battery tender and then the rear of the car caught fire. The top of this plate was damaged from the fire🔥. Glad we were able to bring it back to life and put the final touch back on the fixed car.

Another PA D.A.R.E. plate but definitely in worse condition. It took some time to bring this one back to life. But damn, fixing the 05N was testing my patience. I would like to call the person that rear ended this plate. lol 😂
I think it turned out super nice.
