Meet Cory, our customer service rep. In his role, Cory is often the person you will talk to when you call in to the shop, and he's always ready at the front desk to assist you. An appraisal clause is a provision in your auto policy that allows you to contest the offer you might get from your provider in the event of a total loss on your vehicle. If you have done your research and you believe that the offer given to you is not fair, you have the right to appraisal. However, not every policy includes the right to an appraisal clause. Make sure to read your auto policy to see if yours includes right to appraisal.

Be sure to research thoroughly, and always check dealer listings over Kelly Blue Book (KBB) to determine what you think your car is worth. This customer’s vehicle sustained rear-end damage and was repaired at another shop. During those repairs, the rear bumper and left rear blind spot monitor were replaced because the sensor had been directly impacted.
After the repairs were completed, the vehicle was taken to a Toyota dealership to have the new blind spot monitor calibrated. After multiple failed calibration attempts, the customer was not confident in the explanation they were given for why the calibration continued to fail.

That’s when they brought the vehicle to Mallery’s.
We removed the rear bumper to find the true cause of the problem. The sheet metal on the left rear quarter panel, where the blind spot monitor mounts, was still damaged and pushed out of position.
We researched Toyota’s repair procedures and obtained the precise measurements and tolerances for the blind spot monitor mounting bracket. Using our 3D measuring system, we were able to restore the mounting area to the proper position and within Toyota’s specified tolerances.

We then verified the sensor position with a secondary measuring system, reassembled the vehicle, and successfully completed the calibration.
The customer was back on the road with the system operating properly.
Modern collision repair is about much more than replacing damaged parts. Proper repairs require the right information, the right equipment, and the ability to identify the root cause when something isn’t working as designed.
