🤣 Between testors glue and leaded gas, is it any wonder why kids from the 60’s and 70’s are the way they are today!
Testors tube cement is less like an adhesive, but more rather like a creation for childhood neurological trauma.
You squeezed the tube gently, nothing happened… You squeezed harder, still nothing… A little harder still nothing, but then suddenly the entire contents erupted onto the engine of your AMT or Revell 57 Chevy model kit like industrial grade cheese wiz permanently welding the hood shut or dissolving half the half of the windshield plastics.
The applicator was the tube itself, because precision was apparently considered second thought of its design.
Every joint became a spiderweb of glue, fingerprints, and a cloudy patch where the plastic briefly became a liquid and pulled the DNA from your body.
It did hold things together, though. Not necessarily the correct things, but things.
random parts, paint, carpeting, pet dander, the instruction sheet, sometimes even the box…everything within three feet became one big petroleum-based sculpture.
Today we have thin cement with brushes and capillary action. We have CA glue and accelerator. We even have epoxy if you miss making a mess but want some actual holding power. Back then, you got a toothpaste tube full of brain-cell remover and were encouraged by your parents to build your classic KISS van model on the coffee table.
If your response to "They sure don't make stuff like they used to" isn't something along the lines of "Yes, and thank Christ for that", you probably love this stuff.
