Your dealership’s social media videos are advertisements—and the FTC is watching.

Pricing and disclosure requirements do not stop at your website or showroom. They also apply to TikTok videos, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Facebook Marketplace listings.

Dealers should ensure that:

• Advertised prices include all mandatory dealer fees
• Any qualifying terms appear clearly on-screen
• Disclosures remain visible long enough to be read
• Pricing and vehicle-availability claims are accurate
• Important information is not buried only in the caption

Each video, post or listing may be treated as a separate advertisement. With potential civil penalties reaching more than $53,000 per violation, dealers should review their digital content and compliance procedures now.
