The part of this job nobody films is the part after the sale.

Most of this business is built around the day of the sale. I understand that.

But I’m more interested in the years after it.

The deal isn’t the finish line. It’s the beginning of a relationship. I’ll answer the phone six months later, a year later, and longer than that.

Situations change. Families grow. Somebody starts towing heavier. Work changes. Trade values move. Sometimes somebody just wants to know if they made the right call.

I’d rather hear from a customer than have them go quiet and guess.

Too much of this industry disappears the second the keys change hands. That’s exactly the habit I’m not going to have.

I want to be the guy people call before they sign anything, and the guy they still call after. My job isn’t to make one transaction and disappear. It’s to help people make good automotive decisions and stay in their corner when the next question comes up.

If you bought from me before and something changed, or you’re getting ready to make a move, call me at 850-861-5700 or reach me at JKAutoPro.com.

Diesel or gas. If you're shopping a heavy-duty truck, that's the first decision you make, and it's the one people get wrong the most.
I've got two trucks sitting here right now that make it easy to understand.
Same year. Same trim. Same crew cab. Same Allison 10-speed. Both 4WD Silverado 2500 Customs.
One has the 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel, 63,771 miles.
The other has the 6.6L gas V8, 98,475 miles.
Here's the part nobody says straight: the diesel is not automatically the better truck. It's the better truck if you actually work it.
Pull heavy and pull often, and the Duramax earns everything you paid for it. Tow a few times a year, and the gas truck does the job without the diesel cost of ownership. Cheaper oil changes and fuel filters, and regular gas is easier to find on a Saturday morning when you're hooked to a trailer.
The diesel holds its value better at resale. That's real too. But resale only matters if you're planning to let it go.
So the question is not which one is better. It's how much you actually tow, and how often.
Both are 2024 Silverado 2500 Customs, both crew cab, both 4WD, and both are here where you can put your hands on them.
Stock #143426 is the Duramax. Stock #252650 is the gas truck.
Tell me what you're towing and how many times a year. I'll tell you which one actually fits your life, even if it's not the one you walked in wanting.

Tell me what you're looking for. I mean that literally.

Most people shop backwards. They drive lot to lot, hoping the right truck happens to be sitting on it, and they settle for the closest thing when it isn't.

I work it the other direction. You tell me the year, the miles, the budget, and what it has to do, and I go find it. I've got a pipeline I work every week, and I know what's moving through this market before it hits the mainstream.

Two ways this works:

1. You're looking to buy something specific. A diesel 2500, a crew cab for the family, a clean one-owner anything. Tell me what it is. If it's out there, I'll find it and put you in the right position before somebody else does.

2. You've got something to move first. Trade, negative equity, still owe on it, not sure what it's worth. Send me your VIN and mileage. I'll tell you where you stand, straight, before you make a move you regret.

Either way, you get a real answer from a real person. Not a form, not a call center.

So here's the question: what's the next vehicle on your list? Drop it in the comments or send it straight to me.

Upside down in your trade. Here's the plain-English version.

Negative equity means you owe more on your vehicle than it's worth. Say you owe $28,000 and the trade's worth $22,000. That $6,000 doesn't disappear. It has to go somewhere, and usually it goes into your next loan.

And that's where buyers get in trouble. Not because rolling it over is always wrong. Sometimes it's the realistic path forward. The trouble is rolling it over without understanding what it does to the deal.

Three things I'd want you to know before you sign anything:

1. A bank has to approve the rollover. Lenders look at the whole picture: the vehicle, the term, your profile. A bigger loan on a bigger number isn't automatic.

2. Rolling negative equity into a longer term is how people end up further behind. You can bury a small gap or you can bury yourself. The difference is the structure of the deal.

3. Know your real trade number before you shop. Not a guess. Not what you owe. What it's actually worth. Those are two different numbers, and confusing them is where deals go sideways.

Sometimes the honest answer is the one nobody wants to hear: drive it a little longer, pay it down, and come back in a stronger position. I'd rather tell you that than structure you into something that puts you deeper in the hole 12 months from now.

If you're upside down and wondering what your realistic options are, send me your VIN and mileage. I'll give you a straight answer, even if the answer is to wait.

Hey folks, if you pull heavy, this is the truck worth a look.

2022 RAM 3500 Longhorn 4x4 Mega Cab with the 6 foot 4 box.

6.7L Cummins High Output turbo diesel. Aisin AS69RC HD transmission.

71,080 miles. Gray exterior, brown leather interior.

Here's why the Aisin matters, because most people never hear about it.

On a 3500, the High Output Cummins and the Aisin heavy-duty transmission go together. It's the combo that shows up when the truck was ordered to work, not just to look good in the driveway. That's the setup serious towers go looking for, and it's not the one sitting on every lot.

The Mega Cab is the other half of the story. Biggest cab RAM builds, and you still get the 6'4" box, so you're not trading away bed space to get the back seat room. Longhorn means you're not doing it in a work-truck interior either.

Fifth wheel, gooseneck, equipment trailer, camper, anything heavy and regular. This is the configuration that makes the most sense for that.

If you've been running a half-ton at the edge of what it can do, this is the conversation to have.

Tell me what you're pulling, how heavy, and how often. I'll tell you straight whether this is the right truck for it, too much truck, or not enough.

Before you buy a used diesel, here's what I check first.

Everybody looks at the odometer. That's not the whole story.

Three things I want to know before I'd recommend any diesel:

Service history. Was it maintained consistently? Oil changes, fuel system, cooling system, transmission service: those records tell you more than a walkaround ever will.

Mileage in context. A truck with higher miles that was serviced properly can be a better opportunity than one with fewer miles and a history nobody can verify.

How it was actually used. Towing every day? Pulling equipment? Mostly highway miles? The way a diesel was worked matters as much as the number on it.

A diesel with miles on it isn't automatically a bad truck. You just need to understand what those miles represent before you buy.

If you're looking at a diesel and want a second opinion, call me at 850-861-5700. Come check me out, let me show you what we got going on here.
