Before you hand any school your money, ours included, ask a few direct questions.
Are you on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry? Is the skills test in the price, and will I test on the truck I trained on? What happens if I don't pass a section the first time? Can someone explain things in my language?
A good school answers all of those without hesitating. We put our answers on the last slide.
Manual is $4,000, Automatic is $3,500, test included in both.

In most jobs, the résumé is something you write. In trucking, a big part of it is written for you.
Carriers pull your motor vehicle record before hiring, and many also check the FMCSA Pre-Employment Screening Program, which shows up to five years of crash data and three years of roadside inspections from your commercial driving.
That means the habits you build now, in your personal car, already count. A speeding ticket today is a question in an interview later.

A lot of people want to know what training actually feels like day to day before they commit. Fair enough.
Here's a typical day on our campus, from 9 AM check-in to the debrief before 4. The balance shifts as you go: more classroom early on, more yard and road time later. The one thing that doesn't change is the end-of-day talk with your instructor about what to work on next.
If you'd rather see it than read about it, come by during campus hours.

Halloween's tomorrow, so here's the scary story.
It's next October. Same job, same paycheck, same conversation about "maybe next year." Nothing terrible happened. Nothing changed either.

Daylight saving time ends this Sunday, November 1. Clocks go back an hour, and the evening commute suddenly happens in the dark.
A few habits professional drivers lean on: clean headlights, windshield and mirrors before you leave, more following distance at dusk when eyes are still adjusting, low beams when another vehicle approaches, and watching for pedestrians in dark clothing near intersections.
Good advice whether you're driving a tractor-trailer or your own car home from work.

There's one step in getting hired that a lot of new drivers have never heard of: the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
It's a federal database carriers have to check before you drive for them. You register your own account and approve the query, which takes a few minutes if you know it's coming and causes a delay if you don't.
Setting it up before your first offer means one less thing standing between you and the road.
