BAJA 1000 BOUND:
January 1, 2026, we bought this Bronco off Facebook Marketplace with the goal of racing the Baja 1000. Looking back at those first photos, I don’t think we fully understood how much would happen between bringing it home and getting ready to leave for Mexico.
What followed was months of taking things apart, figuring out what we had and working through what needed to change. Parts, wiring, fabrication, safety equipment and plenty of things that took longer or cost more than we planned. All while raising four boys, working and fitting the rest of life somewhere in between.
The plan changed along the way. A LOT. That part hasn’t always been easy, but people also stepped in, gave their time, shared what they knew and became a bigger part of this than we ever expected.
These progression photos show how the Bronco has changed. What they can’t fully show is how much of that progress belongs to our team, friends and the companies that took a chance on us. There are hours of their work into this thing and we’ll remember that when we pull up to the starting line.
LEED is named after our four boys: Louis, Dennis, Emmett and Edward. I hope they remember being part of this… The late nights, the people around us and watching their parents keep working toward something even when it got really hard to navigate.
Now we’re getting ready for the 1,827 mile drive from Pocatello to San José del Cabo for our first SCORE International race. There’s still work to do and a lot ahead of us that we’ve never done before.
But looking through these photos, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. None of this would have happened with the tremendous amount of support and kindness we’ve been blessed with along the way.
The road to the Baja 1000 has already given us a story we’ll be telling for a long time. 🏁
