This 2011 Triumph Speedmaster came to us not running. The customer had attempted to repair the bike thinking the EFI fuel filter needed replacing. Since it had never been done in the 40k mile life of the bike, the idea made sense. But after it still would not start, we got the call to step in. We found the bike had no spark, so we diagnosed it to find that the crank sensor needed replacing. This was a common problem on earlier generation Triumph twins, but unusual for the newer ones. Once replaced, the bike had spark, but still would not start. After a short discussion with the customer, we determined that the fuel filter in the tank had been installed incorrectly. Once corrected, the bike ran….And another one repaired! (And the “check engine” light was for the crank sensor out of spec - we reset that as well)
