DAMN IT YOU WIN SOME YOU LOSE SOME!
This has been an exceptionally tumultuous week and weekend. Two weeks ago, local meteorologists were discussing the Flash Drought we were experiencing and the lack of rainfall in the forecast. Consequently, I considered postponing last weekend's race and rescheduling for this upcoming weekend, prioritizing safety above all else. Maintaining a safe and optimal track condition is crucial, and grooming a super dry track like ours poses many challenges. As always, my primary goal is to provide the best possible track conditions for all participants. After all that being said, who would have thought we would be cancelling Sunday’s race due to RAIN just as we got started with practice!
I have to say the track was awesome for the first two groups of practice, and then the rain started and soon after that we had lightning in the area . The AMA rule is a mandatory 30 minute wait if lightning is within 10 miles. Well we got thru the first downpour and just as we thought about continuing practice the rain started heavy again and we had lightning 3 more times in the area. The valley from the kids track to the pond was a small stream.
That’s when we knew we had to call it a day!
My precipitation AP had us at .98” at 12:00
Looking back , if was a brutal week of work to get the track in racing condition after being so dry and the grounds looking like they did . Big thanks to all the tough dudes that helped all week, and to my ladies in the score tower you are the best!!
It was as very tough one to take and accept after all the hard work that went into !
Safety and another day will be in our favor soon!
