It’s crazy to think how close I am to wrapping up a 10 plus year goal. The 130cc DB2 injection pump should be here next week. Then I have a few things to modify and then Sherman is ready to run with big pump. If life works out by the middle of next week the center mount turbo pedestal and piping will be 100% done as well. It’s the home stretch to finally have a 6.5 setup for 500rwhp. An intercooler setup is also in the works when time allows before we run it this fall at another event. It might not be 500 horse on fuel this year. But we will be very very close to 400-450. What a ride it’s been and I’m thankful for everyone who’s helped and supported along the way!

We took time today to put the S300 turbo in Sherman. No it isn’t the center mount setup like we had been hoping for but, it’s in and the truck is responding very well to the upgraded. Low EGTs. Lower boost. It feels almost as strong as Casper now which is pretty impressive since I haven’t had another 6.5 feel this way in years. Now we need to install the multi tune from buddy, fix a few odds and ends and go pulling in two weeks!

Here’s the full length video for those following along!

6.5L diesel shenanigans was put on pause as we focused on getting second cutting hay off this week. Now that the Super MD did its thing we can get back to Sherman in preparation to go sled pulling July 31st at the lenawee county fair!

Today we swapped out the stock E Prom on Sherman for a Buddy Tune tow tune. The Quadstar tow tune had some hiccups that was in the truck when we bought it and decided why not do some trials? So far the Buddy tune maxes out around 1140° EGTs compared to the 1570° Quadstar and 1060° the stock prom put down. All are wide open throttle numbers from a stop. With the stock prom we saw about 9-11psi of boost on the 14cm housing HX35 and it was pretty sluggish. The Quadstar tune made 14-18psi of boost but the shift points were a bit too soon forcing EGTs up and I let out of the throttle after seeing the pyrometer. Buddy tune was around 13-15psi boost and everything felt very smooth. We have one more multi tune of buddy’s to try which is Econ, tow and performance. Once we test that we are going to put the S300 on as a side mount and see how everything stacks up again.

Here is a video of installing the tune in the truck and hopefully this helps other 6.5 guys out!

As most people know Sherman the dually had a decent dent in the passenger rear cab when we brought it home. A friend said “use a foot ball and push it out”. Today we used a garage sale foot ball and battery operated air pump to push the cab back out. Is it perfect? No. Does it look better? Absolutely! It’s the little thing sometimes…

I’ve been wrapped up in a million different things lately. Today was the day I finally wrapped up the second set of 6.5L diesel center mount turbo up pipes that we based off Van manifolds. I’ll have a lot of finish welding to do tomorrow and I have to make the steel pedestals yet. But now there are two sets complete and ready to burn in. This isn’t a project I would be rushing out to do twice just due to the complexity of it and the amount of time it’s taken. Thanks Sinclair’s creation Lair for another pedestal to get us to where we are today. Now to cool off and prepare to do a lot of welding!

Today we did the upper ball joints in ole Sherman the dually. They were in pretty sad shape even being lower mile replacements. After some grinding, drilling, hammering and wrenching, both uppers are new and the whole front end is greased up ready to roll. Now to see if we can swap the throttle pedal before the end of the weekend and see what else we can accomplish.

Roll the tape!
