🛠️ Tech Tip Tuesday: Wheel Bearings & Races

Your wheel bearings do more than keep your wheels turning—they’re critical to performance, reliability, and safety. A worn bearing or race can create excess heat, increase rolling resistance, and lead to premature failure.

Here are a few tips to keep them race-ready:

✅ Inspect bearings and races before every race weekend for pitting, discoloration, scoring, or roughness.
✅ Replace bearings and races as a matched set. Installing new bearings on worn races (or vice versa) can shorten their lifespan.
✅ Use a high-quality wheel bearing grease and pack the bearings thoroughly.
✅ Set bearing preload correctly. Too tight creates excessive heat, while too loose can damage the hub and spindle.
✅ If a bearing has failed, always inspect the spindle and hub for damage before installing new parts.

A few minutes of maintenance in the shop can prevent a DNF at the track.
