🚂 DID YOU KNOW? MINIDOKA HAS RAILROAD ROOTS!

Before Rupert was incorporated, the village of Minidoka was already serving the railroad! Established in 1884, it began as a railroad siding—a track alongside the main line where trains could pull off.

In 1904, the Minidoka & Southwestern Railroad was incorporated to build a line connecting Minidoka with the developing Magic Valley. That connection helped tie our growing communities to the wider railroad network.

And that railroad connection lives on: Minidoka remains a point where the Eastern Idaho Railroad connects with Union Pacific, serving a region whose rail traffic includes grain, agricultural products, and food products.

Small town. A lasting place in Southern Idaho’s railroad story.

Beneath the Snake River Plain lies a vast aquifer—water stored in and moving through layers of volcanic rock and sediment. Where the Snake River Canyon cuts into those layers, groundwater emerges from the canyon walls as natural springs!

Those beautiful waterfalls are a glimpse of the water system hidden beneath Southern Idaho.

There’s a whole other side of Southern Idaho hiding beneath our feet!

According to the Bureau of Land Management, the public lands near Shoshone have the highest number of caves anywhere on BLM-managed land.

Two protected areas nearby—McKinney Butte and Tee-Maze—contain 27 significant caves with remarkable geology, wildlife habitat, and clues to the region’s past. Some even provide a winter home for Townsend’s big-eared bats!

It’s another reminder of how much there is to discover right here in Southern Idaho. At 360 Auto Center, we’re proud to call this area home.

Southern Idaho has a connection to the Moon that goes beyond a name!

In 1969, Apollo astronauts visited Craters of the Moon to study volcanic geology as they prepared for future lunar missions. Exploring Idaho’s rugged lava fields helped them learn how to identify rocks and recognize features they might encounter on the Moon.

The historical photo shows astronauts and geologists exploring the Wapi lava field during that visit.

Pretty incredible that a piece of America’s space exploration story happened right here in Southern Idaho! At 360 Auto Center, we love sharing the stories that make our area special.

**360 Auto Center – Rupert, Idaho**

360 Auto Center is looking for a dependable, motivated **Full-Time L**e Technician** to join our team.

We’re a locally owned shop focused on providing fast, friendly, quality service to our customers. We’re looking for someone who works well with others, takes pride in their work, and is willing to stay busy throughout the day.

**Job Duties Include:**

* Performing oil changes quickly and correctly
* Checking and topping off vehicle fluids
* Inspecting and replacing air and cabin filters
* Checking tire pressure and basic vehicle maintenance items
* Working safely underneath and around vehicles
* Keeping the shop and work areas clean and organized
* Communicating with coworkers to keep vehicles moving efficiently
* Providing friendly, professional service to our customers
* Following proper procedures and double-checking work before vehicles leave

**What We’re Looking For:**

* Dependable and punctual
* Strong work ethic
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
* Able to work well as part of a team
* Attention to detail
* Willingness to learn
* Automotive or quick-lube experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person

**Position:** Full-Time
**Location:** 360 Auto Center – Rupert, Idaho

Near American Falls sits Register Rock, a historic stop along the Oregon Trail where pioneers paused to rest during their journey west.

Many travelers carved their names and the dates of their passage into the large basalt boulders. Some of those original inscriptions can still be seen today, giving us a fascinating connection to the people who traveled through Southern Idaho more than 150 years ago.

Register Rock is now protected as part of Massacre Rocks State Park.
