🔧 Did you know? The cab-corner mounting bolts for the striker plates on 1955–59 Chevy trucks aren’t all the same size.
Most of the trucks we’ve encountered over the past 20 years use 1/4-20 mounting bolts. We’ve also run across a smaller number that use 5/16 bolts. Some parts references mention 5/16-24 bolts on later-production trucks, but 1/4-20 is still the size we see most often.
That’s why our 1955–59 Altman Easy Latch hardware bags include 1/4-20 bolts: they fit the majority of these trucks. But we wanted to accommodate the trucks that use 5/16 mounting hardware, too. The mounting holes in both our striker plates and billet striker block upgrades are sized to accept 5/16 bolts as well.
To be clear, these are the bolts that fasten the striker plate or block to the cab corner. The striker pin that engages the latch is a separate part.
Our Altman Easy Latch kit upgrades your doors to a modern rotary-claw latch while retaining the factory handles and outside lock cylinders. And if you’d like a custom look at the door jamb, our billet striker block upgrade replaces the standard steel plates with machined aluminum blocks.
