The Women’s League of Voters sent me these questions. I felt I should share them here too with my answers.
Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I’m the best candidate because Stockton isn’t just where I live—it’s home. I’ve grown up here, built relationships here, and know many of our residents by their first names, as well as their kids and families. I know Stockton’s history, what has made this community successful, and what we’ve lost along the way. I care about where Stockton goes next because I’ll be here living it right alongside you. I’m not running because I have all the answers. I’m running because I care about this town and want to help make it better.
If elected, what would your top three priorities be and why?
My top three priorities are simple: listen to the people, strengthen our community, and plan for Stockton’s future. I work for the residents, not myself, and I don’t have a personal agenda. If something matters to the people of Stockton, it should matter to me. The only way we move forward is by listening, working together, and making decisions that benefit our community.
How do you plan to engage and represent all members of our diverse community?
I’ll represent Stockton by being available, listening to everyone, and making sure people feel like they have a voice. I’d love to see us bring back Stockton Days or create new community events that give people a reason to stay in town and bring others here. Right now, we often leave Stockton to find something to do. I want to help change that. Let’s bring Stockton together and make our community stronger.
What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government?
Transparency is extremely important to me. Residents should know what their city government is doing, where their money is going, and why decisions are being made. I don’t believe in back-room deals or keeping people in the dark. I’ll communicate with residents, listen to their concerns, and make sure they have a seat at the table. City government should be something we do with the community, not something we do to the community.
