Nismo Mikuni 44PHH restoration
With meticulous care we took care of this set of originally Nismo offered carburetors, from maintaining the original JIS hardware intact using the correct JIS(Japanese Industrial Standard) drive tools, to cleaning all passages, adding new shafts, butterflies, with all sealing surfaces checked for flatness, refreshing the tired finish of the carburetor body by v***rblasting in house to our desired finish, finished off with a beautiful zinc plated finish to all the hardware, did you know that if your mating flanges closest to the intake manifold in your carbs are not true and flat that it can lead to shaft bind?

A simple IMS bearing service turned into something far more important on this 1997 Porsche Boxster.

While many know us for our air-cooled Porsche expertise, projects like this are a reminder that we also specialize in modern water-cooled Porsche diagnostics, service, and performance repair at the highest level.

During our pre-service checklist, we found cam deviation numbers well outside allowable spec-a sign that this engine needed much more than just an IMS retrofit. Instead of ignoring the data and pushing forward potentially exacerbating the issue, we went deeper.

The engine came out for a full timing correction service, including new timing chain guides and rails, rebuilt Variocam solenoids, and careful setup work to bring both banks back to an exact 0° cam deviation. Precision work that most shops — and even dealerships — simply won’t perform. Many would recommend replacing the engine entirely rather than repairing it properly.

While the drivetrain was out, we handled everything that made sense to address at the same time:
• New rear main seal
• Clutch and flywheel replacement
• Engine mount replacement to save future labor
• Full coolant flush
• A/C evacuation and recharge to restore proper vent temperatures

Now this Boxster is back to operating exactly how it should, ready for many spirited drives through the Texas Hill Country.

Repairing instead of replacing-that’s the difference.

Some cars come into the shop needing more than maintenance- they need to be made right.

This 1989 Targa arrived after multiple unresolved issues from previous work elsewhere. The client daily drives the car in a suit, so reliability, drivability, and ice-cold AC were non-negotiable. After the original AC installation shop couldn’t get the system cooling correctly, due to wiring and charge issues, we stepped in and fully sorted the system properly. The result: modern performance with factory-style integration and vent temperatures that finally make Texas heat tolerable.

Beyond that, we restored proper function to the cruise control system, installed a WOSP starter and alternator for proper support to all modern amenities added, we had our partner ***rblasting refinish the fan and housing with a fresh v***r blasted finish while everything was apart, as we took the weathered engine tin throughout and got it a fresh powdercoated finish for form and function.

The deeper issues told a larger story. The engine had previously received a top-end rebuild, but the rocker arms and shafts had not been properly rebuilt or installed. The failed Teflon coating on the rockers had scored both the bushings and rocker shaft surfaces, while incorrectly installed rocker shafts had sliced the shaft seals during assembly- causing persistent oil leaks. The previous shop then misdiagnosed the leaks, installed 964 valve covers, and over-torqued them badly enough to cut the seals and create even more leaks.

We corrected the rocker assembly issues, addressed the sealing surfaces properly, repaired the leaks correctly, and integrated a modern ECU system that transformed how the car drives and responds. We also added a remote lock system fully integrated into the factory central locking setup to modernize usability without compromising the character of the car.

Now?
Zero leaks.
Ice cold AC.
Smooth running.
Fully sorted.

The owner now daily drives the car with full confidence and only comes back for routine maintenance — exactly how a properly sorted air-cooled Porsche should be enjoyed.

Few cara tell a story quite like this 1986 M491 package, a true factory “Turbo Look” cabriolet- a one of only 15 made for this year and 1 of 8 cabs- originally a european delivery car that had an extended stay in 🇨🇭for its early life before eventually making its way to 🇺🇸. Even more meaningful, this car has remained within the same family and carries decades of memories!

We were tasked with going through the entirety of the car to fully sort it while the client was away on vacation with the goal of not just preservation, but also confidence in every drive! We thoroughly combed through the car from front to back, replacing all fuel lines through the vehicle, as it originally came spewing fuel from the underside as it was towed in, performed a valve adjustment, full tune up, servicing engine oil and transmission fluid, renewed the incorrectly chosen shifter bushings to restore proper feel and precision as you could not go into gear initially, we also installed a magnetic trickle charger to keep the vehicle ready to go on a drive at any given moment even after prolonged storage! And we sorted the AC system which the client mentioned had never worked from the time it was his turn to to take care of the car for the next generation!

Cars like this deserve more than quick fixes. They deserve careful attention, respect for their history and workmanship that ensures the next generation can enjoy them the same way the previous one did.

Our new block off plates with integrated spark plug wires, we wanted to do these with an o ring seal as we were installing our new head and noticed what a waste of time it was to order gaskets and have them rip when youre taking them off, or even taking the wires off if doing any sort of overhead service, cam swap or valve adjustment, this keeps everything nice and tidy with service in mind!

Alpina C1 2.3
This beautiful gem of a car being 1 of 35 built came to us for a laundry list of small items, from soft brakes, hunting idle, long crank time, to a sunroof seal, all this was done within just a few days while also finding other issues like a bolt about to back out on the steering rack joint, but something about how the car sounded when it drove in troubled us, it had a small noise from the valve train- similar to a car in need of valve adjustment, when we asked the client when the last valve adjustment was done he mentioned it had been 50miles since it was done, something told us to investigate further and we requested if we could take a look under the valve cover for peace of mind, only to find a camshaft with serious wear, we then embarked on the only way to correctly fix this while retaining the original equipment, made specifically in period for this car- we removed the camshaft, rockers and eccentrics to find them all having signs of brinelling, we sent out the cam to pull a master, get rewelded, ground and polished to the original specs which verified was its own grind, nothing resembling any other grinds in their catalogue like Schrick or similar period upgrades, confirming this was the original Alpina equipment. Once we got our freshly refreshed camshaft we set timing, installed camshaft with upgraded heavy duty rockers for longevity and all new eccentrics, rocker shafts and seals, this car was a very different and interesting driving experience, with a soft but sporty ride, lightweight like a 2002 while sporting a hot roded inline 6 cylinder with long tube headers, definitely the classic BMW formula for the ultimate driving machine!

1974 911 in for carburetion issues
Car came from another shop running rougher than it had came in, after doing our standard checks, first things that came to light were fuel pressure and float level issues, the foundation for correct and predictable tuning of any carburetor, once we dug deeper into the IDA3C’s, we found not only crushed fuel floats, but also leaky shafts that would prevent any sort of correct tuning to be done, so as standard in many of our services we completely rebuilt the carburetors for reliable service, finished in a v***rblasted finish, new shaft seals, shafts and throttle plates, this engine loved the hill country toads where it could stretch its legs to its full potential! Along with a beautiful dry ice blasting to promote more efficient cooling throughout the cylinders as we were swapping engine shrouds while we waited for our carburetor parts to come in from Europe, there is nothing like a flat six singing at full tune on the Texas open roads! Video coming 🎺🎶
