The Port of Long Beach is continuing to expand its zero-emission strategy with two major announcements: a new Green Truck Corridor to Mexico and $58.2 million in funding for additional clean technologies across port operations.

The investment will support new zero-emission cargo-handling equipment, charging , harbor craft, and a locomotive, while the cross-border corridor adds another step toward cleaner freight movement between Southern California and Mexico.

Medium-duty electric trucks are winning the argument where it counts most for : the operating budget.

In the 2026 State of Sustainable Fleets Market Brief, 57% of fleets operating medium-duty EVs reported lower operating costs than the diesel trucks they replaced. These are fleets reporting savings on the vehicles already working their routes, not modeling them on a spreadsheet.

Plus, medium- and heavy-duty electric registrations rose 21% last year to a record in the medium-duty segment, led by pickups and delivery vans, and 54% of fleets already running say they plan to add more over the next two years.

Michigan and Oregon are launching new eFleet Networks to help accelerate medium- and heavy-duty fleet .

The new networks will bring together , utilities, state agencies, and technical partners to share real-world insights on charging, incentives, vehicle deployment, and infrastructure planning. Applications are now open for fleets interested in participating.

Fleets running renewable estimate it accounts for about 83% of their total propane volume, and more than two-thirds have replaced all of their conventional propane with renewable sources. That's one of the propane findings in the State of Sustainable 2026 Market Brief.

What's driving it:
• Adoption is climbing fast: 32% of propane-using fleets reported using renewable propane in 2025, up from just 10% two years earlier
• Propane remains a school bus and delivery workhorse, and 41% of fleets running it plan to increase their use
• The climate case is real: in California, renewable propane offered a 59% lifecycle GHG reduction compared to gasoline in 2025
