Siler City Automotive is a family-owned business that has served Siler City since 1970. Owner Jimmy Brower took over in 1996 from his dad, "Big Jim" Brower, who founded the business and still comes into the shop every day to keep an eye on things. "I'm living on the same land my great-grandpa did," Jimmy says. He started out as a mechanical engineer, getting his degree from NC State in 1981 and go

ing off to work in the Texas oil fields. It was an exciting job, but he missed North Carolina and was ready to come home when his dad called and asked him to join the business. They built the current building in 1988 and have grown from one employee to nine. Jimmy presides from behind a built-up desk overlooking the auto bays. When a neighbor came in for an oil change, he stopped to reminisce about how her husband used to drive him to Boy Scouts and Little League games. On the wall beside the desk hangs their creed: "Our mission is to maintain your vehicle in "Like New" condition. Please let us know if you want anything less."
