Pennsylvania mornings are getting colder, so here's your reminder to check your tire pressure.

As temperatures drop, tire pressure can drop too. Underinflated tires can affect handling, tire wear and fuel economy.

Check your pressure when the tires are cold and use the pressure listed on your driver's door-jamb sticker, rather than the maximum number printed on the tire.

A quick check now can help you avoid unnecessary wear later.

That's one reason I encourage people to actually sit in a vehicle, adjust the seat, explore the controls and spend time getting comfortable before making a decision.

Here's a car-buying tip that can save you some headaches:

Don't shop by monthly payment alone.

The loan term, interest rate, down payment, trade-in value and total amount financed all affect the deal. Two payments that look similar can represent very different overall costs.

A good purchase should make sense beyond just the number you see each month.
