“ Cumberland Gap Ride”— Wednesday June 3rd. We awoke to a beautiful- cool morning and took off from our home in North Knoxville around 9:30. We rode north on Clinton Hwy into South Clinton and stopped at the Get n Go for our morning snack. From there we continued on 25W north into Rocky Top and then onto LaFollette— where we headed north toward Jellico —then took 90 east into Kentucky. 90 is a beautiful winding road that heads up into the mountains with switchbacks and drop offs — rolling thru The Clairfield Community and into Kentucky on Kentucky 74 —which finally brought us into Middlesboro. We rode thru town, then headed south on 25E thru the Tunnel into Cumberland Gap— where we stopped for lunch at the Gap Creek Cafe. ( it’s situated in a little house right next to the creek with indoor and outdoor seating. Great food and always friendly folks— we highly recommend). After lunch we went back thru the Tunnel and into The Cumberland Gap State park— riding up to the Pinnacle. The Pinnacle is the boundary of Tennessee — Kentucky and Virginia and the views are spectacular. ( really great place to see— put it on your to do list ). After the Pinnacle— we headed south to Tazewell and then took 33 thru Maynardville and on back to Knoxville. We got home right at 5pm and our total mileage was 179 miles. A beautiful day and a great ride😀
