Some sixty-seven years ago, a vibrant young couple, with two young boys launched Hunt Motor Company. Although it later closed, they turned their vision into reality by opening KAPITAL KAMPERS, Inc., at 801 College Ave., South Houston, TX. Over the years, their youngest son, Jay, inherited and carried on the family legacy, successfully operating the business until his untimely death in March 2025.

Today, we find ourselves in a bittersweet moment as we prepare to close the doors of KAPITAL KAMPERS, Inc. on September 19, 2025. The Hunt family’s contribution have left a lasting impact on the camping community, the town of South Houston, as well as the surrounding areas, and their legacy will be fondly remembered.

As we approach this closure, we still have propane available and are offering sales on our inventory items. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the customers who have made this family business a cherished part of our community. We invite you to join us one last time to shop and celebrate the wonderful journey of KAPITAL KAMPERS, Inc. ❤️
