Quick stops aren't something you want to figure out for the first time in an emergency.

Braking is a fundamental skill introduced and practiced during the Basic RiderCourse, and one that every great rider keeps on developing long after they pass.

Ready to take those skills further? BRC2 and Rider Skills Labs give you the opportunity to keep practicing and progressing as a rider.

The First Responder Trauma Emergency kit has been created by Medical Gear Outfitters.

This kit will be $99 and includes:
Neck Brace
Splint
CPR Mask
Survival Blanket
Athletic Tape
Compressed Guaxe
Combat Gauze
Sharpie
Shears
Burn Dressing

The kit is about 10 x 7 (H/W) & 2.5 inches thick. Details are still being finalized for retail sale, but I feel it is a great kit if you ride often or if you ride with groups. I also am working on a medical Information card that could be as little as "free" for riders.

Please let me know if you are interested in a kit.

More to come! Ride Safe!

Please verify you can Balance a 2 wheel bicycle. Its the #1 issue we see in class.

Understanding a manual transmission might make the concept feel familiar, but it definitely isn't a prerequisite!

What does make a big difference? Knowing how to ride a bicycle.

Balance, steering, and being comfortable on two wheels give you a great foundation.

Clutch and throttle coordination? Those are skills you'll start developing in the Basic RiderCourse. Find a course near you below -

As riders it's OUR JOB to be conspicuous, be seen, be in the driver's central vision. As drivers, it's your job to pay attention while driving. Its a team effort.

Deer strikes are up over the last few years. Always scan far, near and side to side when riding. Dusk and Dawn are the most risky times!

Oh, deer!

As days get shorter, look out for deer during your commute, especially at dawn and dusk when they are most active. Staying alert and scanning for potential dangers could prevent a collision!

As the temperatures drop, please remember traction needs warm tires. Cold tires do not have the grip like warm tires do. Ride a bit before you push in to curves. Ride safe

With cooler temperatures creeping in, it's a good time to think about changing road conditions, and how they change the riding environment.

Cold tires may offer less traction, so give them time to gradually come up to operating temperature. Start your ride smoothly, avoid abrupt acceleration, braking or steering inputs, and give yourself extra time and space while you and your bike warm up.

And remember: cold weather can also mean wet, or frost-covered pavement can mean less available traction too.

Keep your inputs smooth, give yourself time and space, and keep using SEE — Search, Evaluate, Execute — to respond to the conditions around you.
