Beautiful 2027 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn. This is a Serrano Green Metallic example.
A lot of people donβt know this, but the Ram 1500 comes with 2 different 3.0L options (depending on trim) that are both referred to as the Hurricane. One is called the HO (high output) and one is called the SO (standard output).
The high output is exclusive to the higher trim levels such as the Limited, Tungsten, and the RHO however they are also found in the new 2 and 4 door S**t Pack Dodge Charger.
Here are some facts about it:
-540 Horsepower
-521 lb-ft of torque
-utilizes low inertia water cooled turbochargers that run parallel - not sequential. This means each turbocharger is supplying 3 cylinders with boost.
-9.5:1 compression ratio (relatively conservative compared to a lot of modern turbocharged cars providing added detonation resistance under boost)
-Dual overhead cam
-Aluminum block
-180 horsepower per liter of displacement (for context the 392 hemi makes 75)
-Forged internals from factory, including forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons and even carbon coated piston pins.
-26 PSI peak boost pressure from factory.
-It bucks the industry by not using standard traditional cast iron cylinder sleeves. Instead, Stellantis uses plasma transfer wire arc technology to spray a thin, durable coating onto the cylinder walls of the engine. Not only does this reduce weight and friction, but Stellantis claims that it resists wear approximately 10 times better than traditional iron liners.
-Extremely high pressure direct injection helps precisely atomize fuel and manage combustion under heavy boost levels.
-Due to having an electric coolant pump, it can continue to circulate coolant after you shut the engine off which cools off the turbochargers and thus drastically reducing heat related stress.
There are a lot of things about this engine that are impressive, but here are some of those technical things that myself, and I am sure some other gear heads out there will understand and appreciate.
There are plenty more things to discover about it, including 0-60, quarter mile, trap speeds, peak rpmβs, turbo sizing, and plenty more - however while you can talk for a long time about how impressive this product is; a much more noticeable way to experience it is to drive it.
With that being said, we have this beautiful example in stock on the lot at Dahl CDJR Stevens Point, as always - message me on here or call the store and ask for Alec if you have any questions! Happy Monday all!
