AWD vs. 4WD: What's the Difference? 🚗❄️
Living in Wisconsin means dealing with snow-covered roads, icy mornings, muddy backroads, and everything in between. But when it comes to choosing a vehicle, do you know the difference between AWD and 4WD?
✅ AWD (All-Wheel Drive) • Automatically sends power to the wheels with the most traction. • Great for everyday driving in rain, snow, and slippery conditions. • Common in cars, crossovers, and many SUVs.
✅ 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) • Built for tougher conditions and off-road use. • Often lets the driver manually engage 4WD when needed. • Ideal for deep snow, unplowed roads, towing, and rugged terrain.
The Bottom Line: For most Wisconsin drivers, AWD provides excellent confidence and convenience during our long winters. If your adventures frequently take you off the beaten path or through deep snow, 4WD may be the better choice.
Remember: No drivetrain replaces safe driving and good tires! 🛞
