🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

Only two 1969 Corvettes were officially documented with the ZL1 all-aluminum 427 V8. This extraordinary engine was developed for racing and remains one of the rarest factory Corvette engine options ever offered.

The Monaco Orange Convertible: The first factory-documented ZL1 and the only convertible ever built. It features an M40 automatic transmission and was famously sold at an RM Sotheby's Auction for $3,140,000.

The Daytona Yellow Coupe: A T-top coupe model featuring a 4-speed manual transmission, currently preserved as a legendary piece of automotive history.

(Note: A third factory test-car finished in Can-Am White is known to exist, but it was an engineering testbed and never sold directly to the public).

💬 Question: Would you rather own a rare ZL1 or a classic L88?

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

The legendary Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was originally a Chrysler factory!

Before becoming the home of America's Sports Car, the facility was operated by Chrysler's Airtemp Division, manufacturing industrial air-conditioning equipment—not automobiles!

After facing severe financial headwinds in the late 1970s, Chrysler shuttered the plant.

Around the same time, GM was looking for a modern, temperature-controlled facility to move Corvette production away from its aging, non-air-conditioned plant in St. Louis. GM bought the property, invested roughly $130 million, and gutted and expanded the building to twice its original size to transform it into a state-of-the-art automotive assembly line.

On June 1, 1981, the first Kentucky-built Corvette rolled off the assembly line, beginning a new chapter in Corvette history.

What was once a Chrysler air-conditioning factory has since become one of the most recognizable automotive manufacturing facilities in America! 🇺🇸🏁

💬 Question: Have you ever toured the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant and watched America's Sports Car being built?

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

The 1969 Corvette was the first C3 Corvette to offer an optional side-mounted exhaust system directly from the factory.

Although side exhaust pipes had appeared on earlier Corvettes, the 1969 model introduced a distinctive factory side-exhaust option for the C3 Stingray.

Available for one model year only on the C3, the side-mounted exhaust gave the Corvette an unmistakable appearance and an aggressive V8 sound.

Today, a 1969 Corvette with factory side exhaust is a highly desirable example of classic American muscle. 🔥

💬 Question: Which look do you prefer on a classic C3 Corvette—factory side pipes or traditional rear exhaust? 🏁

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

Hollywood legend John Wayne was among the celebrities selected to receive one of Chevrolet's first 1953 Corvettes. Because the Corvette was completely new and production was limited to just 300 units for the 1953 model year, General Motors strictly controlled who could buy them. They targeted Hollywood stars, politicians, and military generals to generate public excitement and prestige for the "All-American Sports Car".

The Duke received VIN 0051—the 51st Corvette ever built and the first one shipped to the West Coast. However, the actor’s ownership didn't last long for a highly practical reason. Due to his 6'4" stature, the towering actor found the compact sports car far too cramped and uncomfortable to drive. So, he famously gifted the Polo White Corvette to his close friend and fellow actor, Ward Bond.

Today, Wayne's original 1953 Corvette is fully restored and on permanent display at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada.

💬 Question: If you could own a 1953 Corvette with a documented Hollywood connection, would you preserve it as a collector's piece or take it out for a Sunday drive?

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

The single year during which the most Corvettes were sold and produced was 1979, with an all-time record of 53,807 units.

The closest Chevrolet has ever come to breaking that historic record was during the modern 2023 C8 model year, which logged 53,785 units—missing the top spot by a mere 22 cars.

💬 Question: What do you think made the 1979 Corvette so popular—and do you think a future Corvette model year will ever break its production record?

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

In 1999, Chevrolet officially returned to professional endurance racing with the introduction of the legendary Corvette C5-R, marking the beginning of one of the most successful chapters in Corvette racing history!

Developed with Pratt & Miller, the C5-R was based on the fifth-generation Corvette and powered by a race-prepared V8. It made its competition debut at the 1999 Rolex 24 at Daytona, taking on some of the world’s best endurance racing teams.

Corvette Racing captured its first class victory at the 2001 24 Hours of Le Mans, followed by additional victories in 2002 and 2004.

The C5-R helped establish Corvette Racing as a serious international competitor and laid the foundation for the successful C6.R, C7.R, and C8.R race cars that followed.

💬 Question: Which generation of Corvette race car is your all-time favorite—C5-R, C6.R, C7.R, or C8.R? 🏁

🏁 DID YOU KNOW?

The 1965 Corvette Sting Ray was the first Corvette available with four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment - a major advancement in Corvette performance and safety!

Before 1965, Corvettes relied on drum brakes at all four corners. The new disc brake system provided improved stopping power, better heat dissipation, and greater resistance to brake fade during spirited driving.

Interestingly, Chevrolet still offered drum brakes as a special-order, discounted option for buyers who preferred the older setup.

💬 Question: When it comes to a classic Corvette, would you keep the original drum brakes for authenticity or upgrade to modern disc brakes?
