Working on converting this 25 hp Mercury long shaft. We had to replace the powerhead and convert it over to tiller steer and shift. Slow process but we are getting it worked out. I will keep you posted.

Rick has been finishing up this 1975 Sleek Craft with a 1966 Mercury 1100 SS (solid state) Probably one of my favorite motors.

I was born in 1966 🤣😂🤣

They mounted the remote. Worked on the power tilt and trim and got everything going like it should. Motor needs to run for a while and make sure it doesn’t need anything. But this is a sweet boat. Love the styling and the power of the 1100 TOP. 🙂.

1975 Johnson 70 hp. We had several things we are working on on this one. It needed an impeller and new gear oil.

The engine ran rough, but peed good. We pulled the plugs and found #3 was fouled. We replaced the ngk’s with correct Champion plugs. Immediately ran better but still needed some adjustments. I adjusted the carb linkage, and then on to the throttle and timing. We noticed that it wasn’t moving the throttle wide open, it was sticking. We cleaned up the linkage and greased it, now it gets full throttle and the carbs and timing are all synced. Engine runs really smooth at higher rpm’s (1500-2000) and lugs great at idle.

Over all great motor. Should give him many years of service with proper maintenance.

We also cleaned out all the nest and checked all the wiring. 🙂.

Warming up this nice 70 hp Johnson. New impeller and gear oil. New spark plugs and quite a bit of adjusting on timing and cables. Running great now.

The date sums it up. 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

1. I will start my last post tonight with this statement. UGH! TN-25 absolutely hates me. The guys installed a new rope, 3 pulls it snapped. They left it for me. Today I installed a new cable rope, smooth as glass. Set it in a tank, pulled it for 5 minutes, it hit a few times and then started leaking fuel. I refuse to let this motor beat me. I’m could easily pull the powerhead and swap in a TN-27 powerhead that runs great, but now it’s about more than swapping power heads. My poor customer may never trust me again, but I will make this motor run correctly. Pulling the carb off again tomorrow. Pray saints ! 😍

2. Next, Yamaha 50 hp 4 stroke. We are building one motor from two of these. Waiting on a power-head base gasket. While we wait we went ahead and pulled the lower unit. It got pretty hot at some point. New housing and impeller ordered. Waiting again.

3. Customer brought us his boat a couple weeks ago. 50 hp Mercury, and a 9.8 hp Mercury. We tested the 50 hp, spark and compression, it was good, good fuel pressure, no leaks, no issues, test ran it and it ran great. Gear oil looked good and it peed as it should. Moved on to the 9.8 hp. Good spark, good compression. Good wiring, tried to test run the motor. It would only run by spraying fuel into the carb. Pulled the carb / fuel pump and replaced a hose and got it ready to rebuild. Here is where it gets interesting. I went to my ministers meetings, and the customer came by and said he had a financial crisis and couldn’t get his boat fixed at this time. He picked it up and took it home. He did not know we had already taken the carb off. My fault for not making it clear before I left. Spoke to him and said we would work it out when I got back. Today I went through the carb and fuel pump and added a fuel line that was broken. I will ask him to bring the boat back and let me install the carb, fuel pump. Just getting it back together is the most important part. Everything else will work it’s self out. ❤️

4. We have a 12 ft aluminum boat that we have for sale. If anyone is interested give me a private message and we will chat.

Tomorrow is a new day, be blessed my friends.

Mercury 25 hp 2 stroke long shaft. Carb/fuel pump needed rebuilt. We removed the spray pump, cleaned it all up, removed the carb bowl, cleaned it all and then rebuilt the fuel pump, replaced the spray pump, reinstalled everything and it is ready to go back on tomorrows. The pictures tell most of the story.

Customer dropped off his beautiful boat with 1975 70 hp Johnson today. He wanted a new impeller and gear oil. We wanted to check it out today. Popped the cowling off and found some interesting things. Customer ran it this week. However, first as you can see on the photos, it had a critter living under there. Big nest. Doesn’t appear to have damaged any wires, thankfully.

Next the throttle and shift cables lock was gone and the cables were zip tied in. There is also tape covering wiring, and one coil has cracks and has been sealed with something.

All of those are simple things and we will see if the customer wants those fixed.

The other major issue was salt water. With heat and patience we got all the bolts out and cleaned all the salt from them. Removed the lower unit, packed with salt. Tim got it cleaned up. I didn’t have the impeller in stock, but it will be here tomorrow. Drained the gear oil, cleaned up all the bolts and got it ready to go back together tomorrow. I will keep you posted on this one.
