Muffler Shop & Auto has an opening on our team for a qualified automotive technician or a motivated and responsible student technician. The ideal candidate will have experience with custom exhaust, and certifications in brakes, suspension & steering systems, and heating & air conditioning. However, we will consider training the right candidate if a motivated individual with the right attitude and willingness to learn additional skills applies.

The Muffler Shop & Auto in Traverse City is a family owned shop that has been operating in Traverse City for over 40 years. We are a busy shop with a lot of work and repeat clients. Responsibilities
* Test to check systems and components are secure and working properly
* Isolate the systems or components that might have caused the problem
* Drive the vehicle for testing purposes and inspect and refill fluid levels as necessary
* Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles
* Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage
* Use power tools, machine tools, and common hand tools to perform various tasks

Qualifications
* Understanding of automobiles and speedy diagnostic abilities
* Effective analytical and communication skills and eagerness to improve
* Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
* Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
* Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Did you know, we have a few options to help make your vehicle’s appointment more convenient?

1. We have a night owl/early bird drop box for times you can leave your vehicle with us outside of business hours.

2. Can’t come in until after daycare opens or before your lunch break at work? No problem, we schedule appointments around your life!

3. Need to go somewhere nearby and don’t have a ride? Rich would be happy to give you a ride to a location in TC so you can keep living your life while your car is in service.

4. Work until 5 o’clock every evening? After hours pickup arrangements can be made for times you just can’t get here before 5:00 pm. Let us know how we can help!

5. Finally, sometimes it just makes sense to wait. For that, we have a comfortable customer lounge, complete with WiFi and coffee, for your convenience.

The end of an era! Today we congratulated Pete on his retirement and Rich on becoming the new owner of the Muffler Shop & Auto! We want to wish Pete and Dolly the very best as they set their sights on a new adventure together.

After years of studying under, and working along side Pete, Rich is ready to take over with with fresh ideas and new energy for the business while promising to continue the family-owned, customer-first traditions that make the Muffler Shop & Auto a great place to do business.
