Together for Mercer: Let’s keep good food on our tables and out of the trash.
Approximately 1 in 8 children in Mercer County experienced food insecurity in 2023. Behind that statistic are children in our community who lack consistent access to nutritious meals.
The Mercer County Improvement Authority, in partnership with the Mercer County Office of Food Security and the Planning and Sustainability team, is working to reduce food waste and connect residents with resources that help more families access nutritious food.
Our new Food Waste Prevention & Recovery webpage brings together resources for residents, schools, businesses, municipalities, and community organizations. You’ll find:
🍽️ Tips for keeping food fresh and using leftovers
🥕 Local food donation and recovery resources
💙 Food assistance resources for families
🌱 Food scrap recycling and composting options
📚 Information from NJDEP and the EPA
