Today, we pause to honor the memory of Battalion Chief John Morrison and Battalion Chief Frank J. Harwood, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty one year ago.

Their dedication, courage, and commitment to serving our community will never be forgotten. As fellow first responders on the water, we know the sacrifices made every day by firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and rescue personnel. We are grateful for those who continue to answer the call.

Our thoughts are also with the families of the firefighters lost in Colorado this week, and we continue to pray for Engineer Dave Tysdal as he recovers.

From all of us at Marine Rescue CDA, thank you to the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department and kootenai county Fire and every first responder who puts service above self.

While operating Marine Rescue CDA, Captain Austin and Captain Tony also served as civilian employees supporting the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division – Acoustic Research Detachment.

By day, they supported critical maritime research and testing. Before and after work, and whenever the call came in, they were responding to boaters across North Idaho with towing, salvage, recoveries, and emergency marine assistance.

That commitment to serving people on the water has never changed. Whether supporting our nation’s maritime mission or helping a stranded family on Lake Coeur d’Alene, it’s always been about answering the call.

15 years. Countless volunteer hours. One mission.

Today, KXLY Channel 4 highlighted the father-son team behind Marine Rescue CDA as we helped keep Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene athletes safe on the water. From the first swimmer entering the lake to the final athlete making it ashore, we’re honored to stand alongside local first responders and volunteers to help make this world-class event possible.

For 15 years, we’ve been committed to keeping participants safe while supporting one of Coeur d’Alene’s most iconic events. Thank you to Ironman, our fellow safety teams, and every athlete who takes on the challenge.
