BMW never topped that car, though the M cars produced since the E46 M3 have been better in any measurable way but they lost the feeling, the soul of what makes a car a great car. The new M's are simply dull tools, they get the job done but in the most un-involving way that leaves one wondering if they are in a BMW or Lexus. Hopefully the M2 is a step in the correct direction for drivers, a fun, tossable sports car. A car that over achieves like the other successful M cars which started with the E30 M3 and ended with the E46 M3.
