🚨 This engine shut off like someone turned the ignition key off… and it wouldn’t restart.
The owner was stranded with a complete no-start condition on this 2001 Maxum 2800 SCR powered by a 7.4L MerCruiser MPI.
After a systematic diagnosis, we traced the problem to a failed 12-volt main engine ground on the port side of the engine. A loose, corroded ground connection had interrupted the ignition circuit, leaving the engine completely dead.
✔️ Cleaned the corrosion
✔️ Repaired the damaged connection
✔️ Secured the ground properly
✔️ Verified circuit continuity
✔️ Engine fired right up and ran flawlessly
Electrical problems can look catastrophic, but accurate diagnostics save time, money, and unnecessary parts replacement.
