Today, our owner, Lauren Jones, and her daughter, Lexi, had the opportunity to attend the NC Traffic Safety Conference & Expo.

Lexi serves on the National Student Leadership Council for SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and was invited to speak about teen leadership, community involvement, and the impact that students can have when they step up to create positive change. She shared how she and her peers organize and lead events that promote safe decision-making and traffic safety in their communities.

We were honored to learn alongside traffic safety professionals, educators, law enforcement officers, and industry leaders from across North Carolina. The conference provided valuable insight into current safety initiatives, innovative programs, and ways we can continue making our roads safer for everyone.

We are incredibly proud of Lexi for representing student leaders across the state and for using her voice to make a difference. The future of traffic safety is bright when young leaders are willing to get involved and lead by example!

Before we ever put students on the road, we teach them how to properly set up their vehicle first ✅🏁

Seat position, mirrors, steering wheel placement, headrest height, dashboard settings, and learning where every important control is located all play a huge role in safe driving. A properly adjusted vehicle helps students improve visibility, reaction time, comfort, and confidence behind the wheel.

Today’s lesson: checking tire tread depth 📏📐

Our students get hands-on experience learning how to properly check tire tread using a tread depth gauge. This is such an important skill because your tires are what keep you connected to the road — especially in rain or sudden stops.

Here’s what they learned:
• How to place the gauge into the tread grooves
• What the numbers mean and how to read them
• When tire tread is considered safe vs. worn
• Why low tread can increase stopping distance and risk of hydroplaning

Not sure how to check at home? A quick tip: If your tread is 2/32 of an inch or less, it’s time to replace your tires!
