⚙️ Tech Talk Tuesday: When Should You Repair or Replace Your Prop? 🚤

Even a small amount of prop damage can make a big difference in how your boat performs!

Jason says there are two major signs to watch for:

🔹 You’ve hit something underwater. Even if your prop looks fine at first glance, there could be damage you can’t immediately see.

🔹 You’re feeling unusual vibrations while driving. A damaged or unbalanced prop could be the culprit!

Continuing to run with a damaged prop can lead to bigger (and more expensive) problems down the road.

We’ve started getting a few calls with questions about how to prep your boat before bringing it in for winterization, and one of the most common questions we get is:

⛽️ Should I fill my gas tank before bringing my boat in?

Our answer is YES! We’d much rather treat the fuel that we know is in your tank than have to guess how much fuel is actually there.

Plus, keeping your tank full helps minimize the amount of empty space where condensation can form over the winter. Less condensation means less chance of water making its way into your fuel system.

After seeing how much our community came together last year, we’re bringing back our Stuff the Boat Food Drive! 💙

Now through winterization season, bring a non-perishable food item with you to Amherst Marine and receive $5 OFF your service.

Every donation will go directly to the Waupaca Area Food Pantry to help provide food for local families in need.

Winterization is the perfect time to take care of your engine’s oil change, too! 🔧

Our recommendation is to have your oil changed before storing your boat for the winter. Fresh oil helps remove contaminants and moisture that can be left behind in used oil while your boat sits for the off-season.

One thing we want to clarify: an oil change is not automatically included with our winterization package. We will always ask if you would like to add an oil change when you drop your boat off for winterization, so you can decide what’s right for your boat.
