Update on the period correct date code numbers matching 1967 289 SBF Engine with casting number C6AE-6015-0 and date code of 7F16 (June 16, 1967). Installed the freshly ground/polished .010/.010 crankshaft with Clevite main/rod bearings, new Speed-Pro Hypereutectic .030 over pistons with chromoly rings on the original C3AE rods that were resized and ARP rod bolts installed, new Melling M68 oil pump and new Melling 68-S oil pickup tube installed, Enginetech Stage 3 ES2822R camshaft (.512/.512 lift) installed and Cloyes C-3057-X double roller timing set installed.
Just need to install the timing cover and oil pan to finish up the short block.

1964.5 Mustang Convertible is finished. Fresh rebuilt early 5-bolt 289 engine and original freshly rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission is shifting smoothly. Ready to be delivered back to its owners. I’m sure that date night just got a whole lot more fun.

Freshly rebuilt original 1964.5 Mustang Convertible 3-speed manual transmission installed back in the car. New transmission mount and cleaned up and painted the transmission crossmember. Cleaned and painted the shifter linkage rods. Even took the time to clean and rebuild the original shifter assembly. This thing should row through the gears with ease. Even replaced both U-Joints on the original driveshaft. Cleaned it up and you can even see all of the original paint markings from when it was built and rowed off the assembly line.

Correct 5-bolt block plate all cleaned up with a fresh coat of silver paint, new brass pilot bushing, flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing all inside clean 5-bolt bell housing on the 1964.5 Mustang Convertible.

Fresh early 5-bolt 64/65 289 engine is now in the 1964.5 Mustang Convertible. Need to button up a few things before we install the freshly rebuilt original 3-speed transmission.

Engine bay paint is finally dry on the 1964.5 Mustang Convertible. Original wiring harnesses have been cleaned, re-taped and routed back in their original locations. New engine should be in tomorrow.
