Today marks the anniversary of our shop journey!
On this day back in 2018, I went to look at a small storage unit off Arkansas Road. At the time, I had no idea where that decision would lead me. The unit didn't even have water, so every day I filled water into a barrel and hauled it myself. I learned pretty quickly that 55 gallons only goes so far when you're washing vehicles. Roughly 2 cars if you’re curious.
That little storage room was brutally hot during the summer, but with a heater it wasn't too bad in the winter. It wasn't glamorous, but it worked. For a while, anyway. I had a shop!
Then road construction on Arkansas Road made it nearly impossible to access the unit. I honestly thought that was the end. I felt like we had a good run, and it might be time to move on to something else.
Thankfully, I had great clients, and one client in particular changed everything. He offered me the opportunity to move into a building he had been using for used tires near the high school. He was nearing the end of his lease, and I was nearing the end of my rope. We moved some tires around, made some space, and just like that, Weekend Warrior Detailing was back in business with a new location and a little more room to grow.
I can never thank Mike Nichols enough for that small gesture. What may have seemed like a simple act of kindness at the time ended up having a huge impact on the future of this business. Thank you, sir.
That building served us well for several years. Then, around 2023, we realized we had simply outgrown the space. That brought us to where we are today with a larger facility, better amenities, and more opportunities than ever before.
It's hard to believe it's been eight years since this whole detailing journey began.
I can promise you one thing: none of this happened because of luck.
To be completely transparent, there were plenty of doubters in the beginning. Many people thought I was crazy for believing there could be a future in "washing cars." For the first year and a half, I worked seven days a week. I worked birthdays. I worked holidays. I even worked Christmas Day. Every day was spent building, grinding, learning, and pushing to create something I could be proud of.
Fast forward to today, and yes, I've stumbled. I've made mistakes. I've failed more than once. But my wins have far outweighed my losses, and every setback taught me something valuable.
Running a business can be stressful. Some days are harder than others. But there is an incredible feeling that comes from stepping back and looking at what you've built through hard work, sacrifice, and persistence.
To everyone who has been a part of this journey, thank you. To employees past and present, customers who trusted us with their vehicles, friends and family who supported us, and those who believed in me and my vision from day one, I am truly grateful.
Eight years later, we're still here, still growing, and still chasing bigger goals.
Thank you all for being part of the journey. ❤️
