Thank you Walpole police for enforcing this during “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” — between Memorial Day and Labor Day. These are nationally the most dangerous time for teen drivers. We would love to have a Walpole officer speak to our summer driver education classes about the dangers of speeding.
Summer Speed Enforcement Initiative 🎫
The Walpole Police Department was again awarded funding from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research (OGR) as part of a Statewide Speed Enforcement campaign aimed at reducing roadway crashes, injuries and fatalities. The Speed Enforcement traffic initiative, which runs through the end of July, is funded by a federal grant administered through the OGR. WPD will be mobilizing extra patrols to enforce speed restrictions and other traffic violations.
Both months are also a part of the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” — between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which is nationally known as the most dangerous time for teen drivers.
These enforcement efforts also serve as a public awareness strategy designed to educate the public about and promote compliance with traffic laws. For your safety and for others, please slow down, be alert and adhere to posted speed zones. Please also remember to buckle up for safety.
