If your tire pressure light came on one of these cooler mornings, it might not be a nail.
Tire pressure drops about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees the temperature falls. So a tire that read fine on a warm afternoon can read low first thing in the morning.
The easy fix:
• Check them in the morning before you drive, while the tires are cold
• Fill to the number on the sticker inside your driver's door, not the one on the tire (that's the max)
• Don't forget the spare
If the light comes back after you've aired up, or one tire keeps going low, it's worth getting that one looked at.
Has your light come on yet this fall?
