The Age-Old Question: Trade-in or Repair?
Let’s look at the math.
Say you have a truck that’s worth ten grand on a good day.
Suddenly, the engine breaks.
The shop quotes you eight thousand dollars for a brand-new engine.
Your first instinct?
'Forget it, the repair costs almost as much as the whole truck! Time to get a new one.'
Slow down.
If you do that, you need to find a truck for under 18k that’s better than your truck with a new engine in it.
Unless you can do that, fixing it wins.
Almost every single time.
Don't let panic dictate your monthly payments.
Stop by the shop for an honest cost breakdown before you sign your title away.
