A shop reported intermittent missing dash lights. In this bench check, Michael cycles the key and checks the EIS and emulator through the starter-request position in VVDI MB Tool. The equipment passes this test; the reported intermittent fault is not reproduced. This does not establish that every intermittent vehicle fault has been ruled out.

All keys lost on this W209 job. Michael reads the original EIS data, shows the completed new-key write, then demonstrates the key turning with the emulator responding on the bench. Long software waits and the poorly framed IR-reader transition are removed. This is a job overview, not the complete programming tutorial or an in-car start test.

Two faults in this C230 job: the original steering lock does not release, and the old key still fails with the programmed emulator. With the new key and emulator, the indicator turns green and the ignition switch turns. All footage is from the same bench test; no in-car start is shown. Contact BTM to confirm the service for your specific chassis and modules.

The small locating pins make this key shell tricky to close. Michael seats the VVDI BE key board with its buttons facing the shell buttons, aligns the pins, closes the housing, and checks that every button clicks. This is a mechanical assembly check only; programming, remote operation and starting the vehicle are not demonstrated. Need a programmed spare key? See BTM's service requirements below.

Need access to the GLK350 ignition switch? Michael removes the retaining ring, gently releases the right and left trim, then removes the center section to expose the EIS. Demonstrated on the GLK in the full tutorial, with the steering wheel still installed at this stage. This excerpt covers trim access only—not the complete EIS or steering-lock removal procedure.

With no ESL connected, this W204 bench setup does not show the normal ignition-on dash lights. Michael connects the emulator already programmed to this EIS, inserts the key, and demonstrates the green indicator and responding instrument cluster. This is a disconnected-versus-connected bench demonstration, not a test of the failed original ESL or an engine-start video. Missing dash lights alone do not diagnose an ESL fault.
